HAVA Fair

HAVA, the Help America Vote Act, was enacted in 2002 to eliminate potentially ambiguous voting technologies — specifically, punchcard ballots — and offer technologies that were less subject to vagueness and misinterpretation. Section 301 of HAVA further mandates that these new technologies must be accessible to voter with disabilities.

In early 2005, vendors hosted an expo in Salem, offering Oregonians an opportunity to sample and test their voting machines. EOCIL sent a delegation to put them through their paces.
